contribute to our community's economic vitality and quality of life.

The proven benefits of trails include:
Encouraging outdoor recreation, fitness and good health;
Enabling residents, especially children, to travel safely
to their destinations on foot, bicycle, horseback, skis
or even wheelchair;
Fostering sustainable economic activity by providing amenities that attract business development and tourism;
Protecting access to trailheads, mountains, rivers, open spaces, and public lands;
Revitalizing people as they engage with their landscape, and
Creating community pride as neighbors

The Bonneville Shoreline Trail (BST) will one day stretch from the Idaho border to Nephi, more than 280 miles. Currently less than 90 miles of the route is officially designated as part of the BST. This website is a guide to the entire 280 mile proposed route. The route attempts to follow the bonneville bench that was formed by the ancient lake. This trail is a work in progress, it was started by citizens and will be finished by them with your help.

On August 10, 2005 , SAFETEA-LU, the new federal transportation bill that provides $286.5 billion in funding through September 2009, became law. It includes a $612 million appropriation for a new national Safe Routes to School program that will provide benefits in all 50 states. Communities will use this funding to construct new bike lanes, pathways, and sidewalks, as well as to launch Safe Routes education and promotion campaigns in elementary and middle schools. Each state is required to hire a full time Safe Routes to Schools coordinator. Many states have already issued requests for projects.

7   Link   Ogden Nature Center
The Ogden Nature Center is a 152-acre nature preserve and education center. Our mission is to unite people with nature and nurture appreciation and stewardship of the environment.

Since it was founded in 1975 as Utah's first nature center, the Ogden Nature Center has provided a place where wildlife can find refuge from urban development and where people can go to enjoy nature. The nature preserve is the foundation for all that we do.

The preserve is our foundation, but education is our focus. Each year the Ogden Nature Center brings more than 27,000 children, teachers, and adults together with nature through hands-on field classes. Participants in our education programs, both for school groups and for the community, observe and learn about plants and animals up-close, discovering the pleasure of being in nature and realizing their own connection to the environment.

Every year the Ogden Nature Center cares for hundreds of injured or orphaned wild birds through our bird rehabilitation program. Care is given until they are healthy enough to be released back into the wild. Annually we care for approximately 700 birds, successfully releasing many of them back to nature.
