The Ogden Bicycle Collective is the recently founded satellite shop to the Salt Lake Bicycle Collective, a 501c3 nonprofit organization. The mission of the bicycle collective is to promote cycling as an effective and sustainable form of transportation and as a cornerstone of a cleaner, healthier, and safer society. The Bicycle Collective provides refurbished bicycles and educational programs to the community, focusing on children and lower income households.
Shop Manager Position Overview:
This is a new position at the Ogden Bicycle Collective. The successful applicant will manage the Community Bike Shop and Trips for Kids program. The Shop manager will conduct mechanical training of volunteers and members of the public. They will make sure the shop is well organized and running as safely and efficiently as possible. They will implement the policies and procedures developed by the Salt Lake Facility under the direction of the director and the board. The shop manager will also help coordinate volunteers to staff the various programming at the Ogden location as well as help coordinate the implementation and operation of a new "Trips For Kids" mountain bike outing program in Ogden. This position will also consist of limited fund raising and event planning work.
Qualifications:
- Must love kids
- Knowledge of bicycle repair and an understanding of the bicycle mechanical operation
- Knowledge of the tools used in bicycle repair and maintenance
- The ability to keep and maintain accurate records
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to work well with minimal supervision
- The ability to take direction from the Collective Board
- Strong leadership skills
- Organizational and inventory maintenance abilities
- Be a good teacher and be able to work well with children
Conditions\Compensation
This position will be filled with a Utah Conservation Corp (AmeriCorps) volunteer. The position is to begin on or near the first of February and the period of performance will be 1700 hours or approximately 10 months working 42.5 hrs per week. Evening and weekend work will be required. Compensation will consist of the following:
- $11,400 Annual Living Allowance
- $4,725 education award (upon completion of service)
- Health insurance
- Child Care (for qualified members)
- Pre-service orientation and in-service training
- Professional non-profit experience
- University Credit through USU (optional)
- Utah Environmental Education Certification (optional)
